Community Specialist

Job Description 

The position is to provide office support, coordinate outreach activities and provide community education of various events and activities and community programs.

Duties:

  • Have direct oversight of various short/long term community programs/projects.
  • Intake and assessment; screen clients for various program eligibility
  • Assist clients with translation, general paperwork of bills, immigration and citizenship questions
  • Assist clients with accessing resources via computers or other methods
  • Under the direction of the Program Director, plan out media campaigns with ethnic radio/TV for Asian Pacific Islander and South East Asian communities
  • Working with other coordinators, partners, and collaborators for events and various programs/projects
  • Coordinate the planning, staff and assist the events as necessary
  • Attend, participate, and monitor various outreach activities
  • Prepare monthly reports, weekly timelines and progress report updates of programs/projects
  • Assist case managers or employment service specialist with assessment and general file maintenance
  • Participate in the development of component goals and objectives.
  • Work closely with various community organizations and attend meetings to represent the agency and its services.
  • Assist with ongoing data collection/evaluation services as needed by the program evaluators.
  • Working flexible hours that may include occasional weekends and evenings
  • Regular and timely attendance
  • Work safely and report safety issues
  • Provide translation services to participants, assist with VITA service
  • Receptionist duties, i.e., answer phones, general office, data entry and clerical duties as needed
  • Other duties as assigned by the Program Director or the Executive Director

  • Strong verbal and written communication skills

  • Ability to handle sensitive and confidential materials in a professional manner
  • Be organized, detail-oriented and produce accurate work
  • Must be at least 18 years of age and a US citizen or lawful permanent resident; must obtain clearance of fingerprint background check through DOJ; have a valid California drivers license, reliable transportation, automobile insurance and good driving record required
  • Bilingual/Multilingual skills a plus

Qualifications

Resource Technician

Job Description 

The Resource Technician provides community resources, information, and assistance to clients at the Citrus Heights office. Working under the supervision of the Site Supervisor, s/he may also work in coordination with all other One Stop staff & partners and the main office to assess client’s eligibility for services.

Duties:

  • Intake and assessment; screen clients for program eligibility
  • Prepares and completes paperwork for enrollment; general file maintenance
  • Assist clients with translations, accessing resources via computers or other methods (one-on-one assistance)
  • Assist with pre-employment skills activities (resume development, job search, labor market information, etc.)
  • Refer customers to Case Manager for Intensive Services/Training
  • Assist case management team with follow-up/retention services, provide ESS and ESL trainer with program assistance as needed
  • Work with staff members for accurate data reporting
  • Attend meetings and participate in training-related workshops
  • Receptionist duties, i.e., answer phones, general office, data entry and clerical duties
  • Regular and timely attendance
  • Work safely and report safety issues
  • Other duties as assigned

Qualifications

Employment Service Specialist

Job Description 

The Employment Service Specialist will work under the supervision of the Program Coordinator.  S/he shall
also work in coordination with other Employment Service Specialists in fulfilling the program’s placement goals.  This position requires frequent driving to different locations.

Duties:

  • Contacting employers to develop job positions for enrolled clients
  • Provide case management functions; file maintenance
  • Develop training and work experience contracts with employers
  • Assess clients for supportive services
  • Provide referrals and resources when necessary
  • Outreach and recruit new clients
  • Screen clients for eligibility and job skills
  • Provide job readiness sessions to prepare clients for interviews
  • Work with instructors to develop employability plan for clients
  • Provide input on program evaluation and trainee progress
  • Work with MIS staff for accurate data reporting
  • Attend meetings and participate in training-related workshops
  • Worksite visits to monitor client’s progress and regulation compliance
  • Regular and timely attendance
  • Work safely and report safety issues
  • Other duties as assigned

Qualifications
Required Skills and Knowledge

  • At least one (1) year experience with employment and vocational training programs
  • At least one (1) year experience with assessment and case management
  • Awareness of the social and economic problems facing minorities in this community
  • Knowledge of the labor market and occupational climate in Sacramento County
  • Reliable transportation; good driving record
  • Experience working with employers and developing new collaborations; Knowledge of the Sacramento labor market as well as community resources preferred
  • Demonstrated ability to prioritize multiple work tasks and meet deadlines.
  • Excellent written, verbal and interpersonal communications skills.
  • Ability to work with people of diverse backgrounds and willingness to learn new skills
  • Proficient in Microsoft Suites and other computer programs.
  • Team-oriented, flexible, enthusiastic, creative, and dedicated to the formation and philosophy of the development of employment and economic development
  • Valid California Drivers License, own transportation, automobile insurance and good driving record required
  • Bilingual/Multilingual skills preferred including Hmong, Lao, Chinese, Thai, Tagalog, Mien, Farsi, Spanish, Russian, Bosnian, or Ukrainian
